Rasode Mein Kon Tha?

15 June 2026 Dakshita Sabharwal
We say we bond over food & we relax over cooking.
We know about dishes prepared generations ago & carried on in our families- brought out only on special occasions. We watch TV shows that celebrate eateries born years ago and continue to use them as a medium of regulation for ourselves.
We write down recipes, save reels, pass them down to families & even perfect them over the years.

But what if this time, we decide to create our own recipe for rest?

Remember the taste of maggie, rajma chawal, kulhad chai or creamy butter chicken- it brings home the feeling that you can instantly associate with the feeling of rest or relaxation.

As a freelancer, rest comes at a huge cost- a lost opportunity that shows up financially & in a compounding way too. Weekends are universally supposed to be free & restful, but ask a freelancer & they'll tell you how opportunities knock on days that are breaks for others. Even festivals and the year end that potentially seems like a given time to rest, ends up being the best time to burn the midnight oil.

Advice giving is fairly easy because we hear it all the time- we give it away like candies or kaju katli- "take a break, you need a holiday".
But that one off or occasional day off cannot carry the burden of your burnout or 24x7 working mind. I'm again not here for the one time swoop, but want to invite you intentionally to sit with yourself or someone close to you and discuss the ingredients that your dish of rest, relaxation & recuperation requires.
